"No, Major...my compensation is the triumph of liberty over tyranny!"
~ Lady Satan
LADY SATAN
Real Name: Unknown
First Appearance: Dynamic Comics # 2 (December 1941)
Publisher: Harry 'A' Chesler Comics
"Perhaps I am the only person in the world today who is a master of the art of black magic. That is why I am called Lady Satan."
Lady Satan is a difficult character to describe, as no one can really tell if she is one or two distinct characters. When she first appeared, her fiance was killed by Axis bombers and she vowed to the destruction of the Nazis and tyranny. Wearing a red domino mask, Lady Satan fought against Nazi forces with only her wits, fists and a chlorine gas gun.
Years later, Lady Satan appeared again, but now she was a master of black magic and fought against magical forces of evil. She cast spells, used magic powders and had a magical serpent ring.
Both Lady Satans were almost identical in dress and appearance, so were there two Lady Satans, or did Lady Satan just learn magic over the years? We may never know.
Lady Satan appeared in Dynamic Comics # 2-3, Bullseye Comics # 11 and Red Seal Comics # 17,18, 20 and 21.
Below is her first appearance in Dynamic Comics #2 and then her first appearance with magic in Red Seal Comics # 17.
